Our Leadership Team

Laura Franklin
CEO
Laura Franklin is honored to serve as the CEO of The Shandy Clinic. Prior to serving in this role, Laura graduated with an MPA from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government and an MBA from Stanford’s Graduate School of Business. Before graduate school, Laura taught fourth grade in Lexington, Mississippi. She fell in love with the Mississippi Delta and with the community in Lexington. Laura believes that the power of the community contributed enormously to her student’s success, and this belief has carried forward in her role as CEO of Shandy. Laura is deeply committed to doing everything in her power to ensure that every child can achieve their full potential. She has a deep belief in Shandy’s mission and vision and is constantly amazed by the team, and by the impact we make every day on children’s lives. Laura is originally from Houston, Texas. Laura’s hobbies include reading, gardening, and writing bios in the third person about herself.

Jana Weiner
Director of Physical Health
Jana attended Northeastern University for her bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy and A.T. Stills University for her doctorate in Physical Therapy. She has been practicing as a Physical Therapist since 1999! She specialized in orthopedics for 20+ years and made the transition to pediatrics in 2021 when she retired from the US Air Force. She enjoys all aspects of clinic practice but especially performing dry needling for the amazing and fast results it provides. Her passion for leadership stems from 20+ years of service in the US Air Force and she is thrilled to lead our clinical teams every day! When asked what she loves about Shandy, Jana said “I love the team members that work here! Each Shandy employee is dedicated to ensuring that we provide the highest quality patient-centered therapy to our patients and families. The teams definitely make this a special place to work!” When she is not working, Jana enjoys being outside in her garden, in the mountains, or sitting at the soccer field watching her kids play.

Kayde Keinz, M.S., BCBA
Director of ABA Operations
Kayde has been working in the field of behavior analysis for 20 years across a variety of settings and with varying populations. She holds a Master’s Degree in Applied Behavior Analysis & Therapy from Southern Illinois University and a B.S. in Psychology from Northern Illinois University. Kayde’s professional interests include Organizational Behavior Management as an avenue to apply behavior analytical principles and contingency management techniques to change behavior in organizational settings. Her greatest passion in this area is to change the work environment to improve employee performance and workplace culture; where the clinical and operational worlds can combine and align! Outside of work, you can find her creating edible masterpieces in the kitchen and growing her plant family.

Steph Pfeif
Speech Department Head
Steph is a Colorado native. She was born and raised in Pueblo, Colorado. Steph obtained her bachelor’s degree and
master’s degree at The University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, CO. After graduating, she spent 5 years working in
the school setting before moving to outpatient pediatrics at Shandy in 2016 to help open the Pueblo market and hasn’t
looked back. Steph holds certifications for the SOS Approach, Beckman Oral Motor Skills, and ASHA supervision. When
asked what she loves about Shandy Steph said, “Shandy’s sense of community is top-notch – from support and encouragement
from co-workers and other Shandy professionals to being involved in patient’s and family’s lives. You have a built-in
network for all of life and career changes.” Outside of work, Steph enjoys camping, traveling, spending time with
family, keeping up with her two kids, and enjoying the Colorado sun.

Alyssa Pennington
Assistant Speech Department Head & Barnes Clinic Manager
Alyssa attended The University of Akron in Akron, Ohio where she obtained both her bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology. She has been in the field for 4 years. Alyssa’s areas of interest include the Spanish-speaking population and motor speech disorders. When asked what she loves about Shandy, Alyssa said “I love Shandy because my team is amazing! I have never worked in such a friendly and supportive environment.” Outside of work, Alyssa enjoys hiking, exercising, cooking, baking, and exploring new places.

Jenny Ventker
Occupational Therapy Director
Jenny has a bachelor’s degree in Wildlife Biology from Colorado State University and spent 7 years working for the
Forest Service doing various research projects. She then got her master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from Colorado
State University in 2012. She has now been in the field 10 years now and in pediatrics for 7 years. Jenny is interested
in working with neurological injuries, especially spinal cord injuries. She holds an Animal and Human Health Certificate
from the Institute of Human Animal Connection at the University of Denver which allows her to run and enjoy an
animal-assisted therapy program. She is also interested in treating patients with trauma backgrounds. When asked what
she loves about Shandy, Jenny said “I love being able to work with a large group of OT’s and other disciplines. It is
great to work in a place where you get to be super creative and have so much fun at your job!” Outside of work, Jenny
loves camping, hiking, running, gardening, and reading. More than anything, she loves to spend time with her dogs!

Tiffaney Salerno
Assistant OT Department Head and Pueblo South Clinic Manager
Tiffany is a Pueblo, CO native graduating high school locally and attending Pueblo Community College to receive
her associate’s degree in Applied Science to become a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant. She has now been in the
field for 4 years. Tiffany loves working with kids of all diagnoses and abilities. She is certified in Handwriting
Without Tears and loves learning and growing to better serve our clients. When asked what she loves about Shandy,
Tiffany said “I love Shandy because I always feel supported and am able to grow in my field. I love the close family
feeling with other therapists, and the feeling that we are all trying to do what is best for the kids we see.” Outside
of work, Tiffany enjoys hanging out with family, camping, and watching her own kids grow. She loves adventures and being
outdoors.

Nicole Losse
PT Department Head
Nicole graduated with her bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Health from the University of Illinois and then earned her doctorate of Physical Therapy from Northwestern University. She has been a PT for 7 years. Nicole has her CSCS certification (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist) and Autism Exercise Specialist certification. Her other areas of interest include babies/pre-walkers, neurological diagnoses, and strength training. When asked what she loves about Shandy, Nicole said “I love working on an interdisciplinary team. I feel like it provides the best care for our patients to all be under one roof collaborating all of the time.” Outside of work, Nicole enjoys hiking, lifting weights, reading, skiing, spending time with friends and family (and her dog), and just being outside!

Maura Illing
Assistant PT Department Head
Maura got her bachelor’s degree from Case Western Reserve University and her Doctor of Physical Therapy from Northwestern University. She has been a PT for 4 years and has spent those four years at the Shandy Clinic. She has her Functional Dry Needling Level 1 certification, and loves working with ortho diagnoses, especially youth athletes, as well as babies/pre-walkers, and kids with neurological diagnoses. When asked what she loves about Shandy, Maura said, “I love that I am able to treat this wide variety of diagnoses at Shandy, and work as part of a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team to help these kids reach their full potential and achieve their goals!” Outside of work, you can usually find Maura in the mountains hiking, skiing, camping, trail running, or rock climbing. She also loves to read, travel, and spend time with family and friends!

Maddi McDonough
ABA South Regional Manager
Maddi earned her master’s degree in Education with a Specialty in ABA and Autism Spectrum Disorder. She has been in the field since 2015. Maddi’s areas of interest include Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) and Early Intensive Behavioral Intervention (EIBI). She is also PECS Level 1 Certified and has completed Trauma-Informed Care (TIC) continuing education credit to help increase compassionate care in her practice of ABA. When asked what she loves about Shandy, Maddi said, “I love that Shandy wants to be effective and efficient for both our clients’ care and the care of our team members. I also love that Shandy’s clinic environment looks and feels like children belong here, it isn’t a sterile white building, but instead has nature artwork everywhere and it looks like a place for happy children.” Outside of work, Maddi enjoys hiking, reading, spending time with people she loves, and eating lots of great food.

Emily Maine
Vice President of Operations
Emily is the Vice President of Operations here at the Shandy Clinic. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of California-Berkeley and her MBA from Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College. Emily’s role at Shandy involves working with teams to expand care and improve the way we work for our patients, families, and clinicians. When asked what she loves about Shandy, Emily said, “I love getting to see the lifechanging services that our clinicians provide and the heart that every single team member brings to their work! This is a team full of truly exceptional people, and it is a privilege to work with them.” Outside of work, Emily enjoys spending time with friends and family (especially her dog!) and spending time outside.

Harrison Pow
Corporate Controller
Harrison serves as our Lead of Finance, Accounting, and Revenue Cycle Operations. He has a bachelor’s degree in economics from Vanderbilt University. When asked what he loves about Shandy, Harrison said “The passion and drive that our team members exhibit to provide high-quality care to the communities we serve.” Outside of work, Harrison enjoys running, playing tennis, and going to concerts.

Justin Bresette
Operations and Data Manager
Justin serves as the Operations and Data Manager here at the Shandy Clinic. He attended Plattsburgh State University in New York. When asked what he loves about Shandy, Justin said, “I love Shandy for the collaboration across teams and the opportunities to serve so many kiddos and families in Colorado!” Outside of work, Justin enjoys running, playing pickleball, cycling, and just being outside.

Joe Ancona
Hiring Manager
Joe attended Clemson University where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in Business Management. He has the honor of finding the best therapists and administrative staff to join our amazing Shandy team. He supports all candidates through the hiring life cycle and acts as a resource for them as they navigate learning more about Shandy and our culture. When asked what he loves about Shandy, Joe said “I adore our team here at Shandy. Being able to be a part of a company that serves so many children and families in our community brings me an incredible amount of joy. Seeing the impact we are able to have on these kiddos is hard to beat. And having a collaborative and support team alongside me makes my job so much more enjoyable. Plus, we love having fun! I feel so lucky to be a part of this team.” Living in Colorado provides so many opportunities outside of work. Joe loves spending time with his amazing family. In the warmer months, he is all about being outside either hiking, playing pickleball, or mountain biking. During the winter months, you will find Joe falling down the mountain on his skis or traveling. He also enjoys live music, so having Red Rocks in our backyard is amazing!
